Secretary-General of Austrian Foreign Ministry Johannes Kyrle Pays an Official Visit

Tue, 17/08/2010 - 09:51

The Secretary-General of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria, Ambassador Johannes Kyrle, visited the CEI Headquarters in Trieste on 16 August 2010.

Ambassador Kyrle had an exchange of views with the CEI Secretary General, Ambassador Gerhard Pfanzelter and reaffirmed Austria’s full support of the CEI and its role in regional cooperation. He stressed the new challenges and future opportunities for enhanced regional cooperation in view of the macro-regional strategies of the EU. As a consequence the CEI – a bridge between the Baltic, Danube, Adriatic and Black Sea regions – has a strong potential to be a partner of the European Commission.

Johannes Kyrle also underlined the important role the CEI can play in the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region and assured Austria’s support.
